If you have an adventure dog, you need this product! AD.

When we first got Roo, her safety wasn't actually something we had thought that much about. Sounds odd but we hadn't thought about what we might need if something happened to her and we really should have!

Puppies can be so accident prone. They zoom around at 100mph and crash into everything. When Roo was around 4 months old, we were playing fetch in the house and as she ran to catch the toy, she caught her claw on the door trim. She didn't make a sound or act like anything had happened. She came running back to us and suddenly there were patches of blood all over the floor. We both panicked. We gave her a once over and that's when we noticed one of her claw on her front paw was hanging off - it was still kind of attached though! We didn't have a clue what to do. We got some water to clean it with and grabbed an old t-shirt to cut into strips to make a bandage. Later that afternoon, we managed to get an appointment at the vets where the claw was cut off and her paw was properly bandaged up.

With it being her paw, we had to keep it clean, so we washed her feet every time she went outside and our gundog trainer got in touch to tell us about vetwrap. Such good stuff, it basically sticks to itself to keep wounds clean. We jumped in the car and headed to pet's at home to get some. It meant that we could let Roo run around outside without having to worry about dirt getting into her wound.

It was at this point that we realised that we should probably have some kind of first aid kit for Roo, especially if we were going to be going on a lot of adventures with her. We then proceeded to make ourselves a very poor DIY first aid kit with human bandages and some vetwrap. It wasn't great though.

We were so excited when Pawaid reached out to send us one of their pet first aid kits! This thing is amazing and honestly every dog owner should have one. You just never know when something is going to happen. One time on a walk, Roo ran into a fence and split her mouth open - I know, this girl.....

The first aid kit has everything you could ever need - sting relief, pads, alcohol pads, syringes, cpr mask, tick remover, flea comb, scissors, two rolls of vetwrap, tape and a whole host of other things. It also comes in very handy compact water resistant bag. Pawaid also sell refill packs so once you start running low you can top up your kit without having to buy the whole bag again.

So many of these things we didn't even think about but something like sting relief is so handy. Our friends have some land and whenever we would take Roo there she would spend the car ride home gnawing at her feet, it would be a good hour or so after we got home that she would leave them alone. We tried washing them but it didn't seem to really help. Sting relief would have been so good to have on hard.

A first aid kit for a dog might seem a bit much but when the time comes that you need one, you will be very glad you had one!

We keep ours in the boot of our car and have taken a few things out to put into a smaller bag that we carry with us when we are out and about.
