Feeding your pup can be a mindfield. Everyone is shouting different things. Raw is best, just feed kibble, make your own, wet food over here. We are here to tell you, feed your dog whatever you want, just make sure it is the best quality food you can afford.
Roo has tried nearly every type going, mainly because she is fussy AF and goes through periods of food refusal. A story for another day. When we picked Roo up she was on kibble and the breeders gave us a bag of it to keep her on. It is important that you don't change their food within the first couple of weeks they are home with you to allow them time to settle in. When/if you do decided to change their food it needs to be done gradually. Day 1, 90% old food 10% new, Day 2 80% old food 20% new and so on. By the time they are at 70% new food, you can just use 100% new food the next day. This helps their stomachs adjust to the new food minimlising the chance of any tummy upset.
So Roo, came with Skinner Field and Trial (puppy) food. Next she had James Wellbeloved (puppy) kibble, then Lily's Kitchen (puppy) wet food, after that AVA (puppy) kibble before going onto their wet food. After a trip to the vets, we put her on Chappies wet food. Now she is on a mix of Chappies wet food and Nature's Menu (puppy) wet food. Don't worry, this is not what picking a dog food for your puppy is typically like. Roo has a sensitive stomach and like I said is fussy AF. Oh and inbetween all of that, we did try homecooked food for a bit.
The only food we haven't tried her on is raw. Why? Because we do not have the space for it. If we had the space to buy Roo her own freezer then we probably would give raw a go. People who feed their dogs raw they rave about it. But we can't so we don't.
So feed your dog whatever works best for you. Have the freezer space for raw and want to, do it. Like the ease of kibble, go with that. Like the idea of wet food, all good. But make sure to check the ingredients to ensure it isn't full of fillers and junk. The best way to do this is to check out All About Dog Food

It is an amazing resource that allows you to check the ingredients of most dog food companies on the market. They even have a search function that allows you to see the best brands for specific dog giving them a nutritional rating. It also tells you if it is made from natural ingredients, if it is high in meat, hypoallergenic, clearly lablled and certified nutritional complete. You can also find reviews from people using the food as well as breakdown of the carbs, fat and protien.
We used this website when we were last changing Roo's diet over to Nature's Menu. It was a toss up between Forthglade and Nature's menu. After a quick check on All About Dog Food, Forthglade came up with a rating of 91% but had peas in it (which Roo doesn't get on with) as well as being stablised with Carrageenan which can cause gastrointerstinal issues. Then we checked out Nature's Menu which had a 92% rating and was Carrageenan free. It also didn't contain any peas swaying our decison to go with that brand.
